PROMINENT PAINTS – FAST TIPS

  1. Moisture Test

Before using epoxy paint on your floor, test for dampness coming through the concrete. Lift the corner of a plastic bag that’s been taped to the garage floor for 24-hours. If it’s dry beneath, you can proceed with an epoxy coating. If there’s condensation under the plastic, don’t coat the floor with epoxy; moisture will break the bond.

2. Bleach Away Water Stains

Ceiling stains can sometimes be resolved with bleach and water (10% bleach). Spray the spot – wait a day or two. Works on smooth and textured ceilings. Wear safety goggles and protect the walls and floors with plastic. If it doesn’t work use ProGold Fungal Wash – prime and repaint using Prominent Paints Select Wall and Ceiling.

3. Paint Doesn’t Stick to Rotten Siding

Rotten wood is worthless to paint. It will continue to deteriorate if not treated. Your options: Replace wood trim or in small areas, use a wood hardener and match with a wood filler. Be sure to prep and sand either one prior to painting.

4. Skip the Steel

When working with varnish – use synthetic abrasives pads to sand between coats and wipe the surface dust with a damp rag. Skip steel wool – it leaves behind bits of steel.
